8 Days Desert Tour & Imperial Cities from Fes

We will start this tour from Fes, the oldest imperial city of Morocco. With a local guide, you will explore its rich history and cultural heritage. The journey continues through ancient Roman ruins, imperial cities, the Middle Atlas Mountains, and the Sahara Desert, before ending back in Fes via Marrakech, Casablanca, and Rabat.

Day 1: Full Day to Explore Fes

Enjoy a guided tour of Fes, the spiritual and cultural capital of Morocco. Visit:

  • The ancient medina (UNESCO World Heritage Site)
  • University of Al Quaraouiyine (the oldest university in the world)
  • Traditional tanneries
  • Historic madrasas

Dinner and overnight in a riad or hotel.

Day 2: Fes – Volubilis – Moulay Idriss – Meknes

After breakfast, depart to:

  • Volubilis, famous for its mosaics, arches, and Roman remains
  • Moulay Idriss Zerhoun, a holy town and pilgrimage site

Continue to Meknes, an imperial city where you will visit:

  • Bab Mansour
  • Sahrij Souani basin
  • Moulay Ismail Mausoleum
  • Place El Hedim

Overnight in a riad or hotel.

Day 3: Fes – Ifrane – Midelt – Ziz Valley – Merzouga

Travel through the Middle Atlas Mountains:

  • Stop in Ifrane, known as the “Moroccan Switzerland”
  • Visit Cedar Forest of Azrou to see Barbary macaques

Continue via Midelt and the scenic Ziz Valley to reach:

  • Merzouga

Enjoy a camel trek across the dunes of Erg Chebbi, sunset views, dinner, and overnight in a Berber desert camp.

Day 4: Merzouga – Todra Gorges – Dades Valley

After sunrise and breakfast:

  • Visit Rissani traditional market
  • Continue to Todra Gorges

Explore the valley before heading to:

  • Dades Valley

Overnight in a hotel.

Day 5: Dades Valley – Ouarzazate – Ait Ben Haddou – Marrakech

Drive through:

  • Valley of Roses
  • Skoura oasis

Visit:

  • Ouarzazate, the “Hollywood of Africa”
  • Ait Ben Haddou

Cross the High Atlas Mountains via Tizi n’Tichka Pass to arrive in Marrakech. Overnight in a riad or hotel.

Day 6: Full Day to Explore Marrakech

Guided tour of Marrakech including:

  • Bahia Palace
  • Saadian Tombs
  • Koutoubia Mosque
  • Jemaa el-Fnaa

Explore the souks and local markets. Overnight stay.

Day 7: Marrakech – Casablanca – Rabat

Drive to Casablanca and visit:

  • Hassan II Mosque

Continue to Rabat, the capital city:

  • Royal Palace
  • Kasbah of the Udayas
  • Hassan Tower

Overnight in a hotel.

Day 8: Rabat – Fes

After breakfast, return to Fes.
Transfer to the airport.
