8 Days Grand Morocco Tour: From Tangier to Marrakech via Sahara Desert
During this unforgettable 8-day journey, you will explore the best of Morocco—from the north to the Sahara Desert and ending in Marrakech. The tour combines imperial cities, breathtaking landscapes, cultural heritage, and authentic desert experiences.
Starting from Tangier, we head towards the magical blue town of Chefchaouen, crossing the scenic Rif Mountains. Then, we visit the Roman ruins of Volubilis and the imperial city of Meknes before spending time exploring the cultural capital Fes.
The journey continues through the Middle Atlas Mountains via Ifrane and Azrou, heading towards the Sahara Desert in Merzouga. After a magical desert night, we travel through the spectacular Todra Gorge and Dades Valley, then visit the famous Ait Ben Haddou before arriving in Marrakech.
Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Tangier → Chefchaouen → Fes
Meet at the port or airport in Tangier and drive through the Rif Mountains via Tetouan. Stop in Chefchaouen, known for its blue-painted streets, charming medina, and relaxing atmosphere. Continue to Fes for overnight in a traditional riad.
Day 2: Chefchaouen → Volubilis → Meknes → Fes
After breakfast, travel to Volubilis to explore Morocco’s best-preserved Roman ruins. Then head to Meknes to visit Bab Mansour, Moulay Ismail Mausoleum, and the historic medina. Return to Fes for overnight.
Day 3: Fes Guided Tour
Discover the spiritual and cultural heart of Morocco. Visit:
- Royal Palace gate
- Mellah (Jewish quarter)
- Al Quaraouiyine University
- Tanneries
- Attarine Museum
Enjoy a panoramic view over the medina before returning to your riad.
Day 4: Fes → Ifrane → Midelt → Merzouga Desert
Drive through the Middle Atlas Mountains, stopping in Ifrane (“Moroccan Switzerland”) and Azrou cedar forest to see Barbary monkeys. Continue via Midelt and the Ziz Valley to reach Merzouga. Enjoy a camel trek across the dunes of Erg Chebbi and spend the night in a desert camp.
Day 5: Merzouga → Todra Gorge → Dades Valley
Watch sunrise over the Sahara dunes, then travel to Todra Gorge for a walk through its dramatic cliffs. Continue to Dades Valley for dinner and overnight.
Day 6: Dades Valley → Ouarzazate → Ait Ben Haddou → Marrakech
Drive through the “Valley of a Thousand Kasbahs” to Ouarzazate. Visit Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site, then cross the High Atlas Mountains via Tizi n’Tichka Pass to Marrakech.
Day 7: Marrakech Guided Tour
Explore the Red City with a local guide:
- Jardin Majorelle
- Koutoubia Mosque
- Saadian Tombs
- Bahia Palace
Walk through the souks and enjoy free time in the afternoon.
Day 8: Marrakech → Airport
Transfer to the airport. End of the tour.
