2-Day Fes – Merzouga Desert – Fes Tour

This 2-day tour begins in Fes, the historic imperial city of Morocco, and takes you on an unforgettable journey through the Middle Atlas Mountains. You will travel via Ifrane, often called the “Moroccan Switzerland,” and Azrou, known for its famous cedar forests and Barbary apes.

Continue through Midelt and the stunning Ziz Valley before reaching the magical dunes of Merzouga. Enjoy a camel trek in the Sahara Desert, spend the night in a traditional Berber camp, and return to Fes the following day.

Day 1: Fes – Ifrane – Azrou – Midelt – Erfoud – Merzouga

Your journey begins with a pickup from your accommodation in Fes. Travel southeast through the Middle Atlas Mountains to your first stop, Ifrane, a charming alpine-style town known for its clean streets and European architecture.

Next, continue to Azrou to explore Morocco’s largest cedar forest, home to the famous Barbary macaques.

Afterward, head south through scenic landscapes and small Berber villages, with a stop in Midelt for lunch. The journey continues along the beautiful Ziz Valley, offering panoramic views of palm groves and dramatic landscapes.

Pass through Rissani, the birthplace of the Alaouite dynasty, before arriving in Merzouga. You will be welcomed with traditional mint tea at your riad.

In the late afternoon, enjoy a camel trek across the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi. Climb the dunes to witness a spectacular sunset, then continue to your desert camp for an overnight stay. Enjoy a traditional dinner, followed by Berber music under the stars.

Day 2: Merzouga – Erfoud – Errachidia – Ziz Valley – Fes

Wake up early to experience a breathtaking sunrise over the Sahara dunes. Afterward, ride your camel back to the riad.

Enjoy breakfast and a refreshing shower before starting your journey back to Fes. Travel through Erfoud, known for its fossil industry, and Errachidia.

Continue through the Ziz Valley and the Middle Atlas Mountains, passing once again through Midelt and Azrou. Stop for lunch along the way before arriving back in Fes in the evening.
