4-Day Desert Tour from Marrakech to Merzouga

We will start this tour from Marrakech to Merzouga Desert, crossing the spectacular High Atlas Mountains via Ouarzazate. Along the way, we will visit Telouet Kasbah and Ait Ben Haddou.

We will continue to Ouarzazate, known as the “Hollywood of Africa,” and stop for photos at Atlas Studios, one of the largest film studios in Africa.

The journey also includes the beautiful Dades Valley, Roses Valley, and Todra Gorges. In the Sahara Desert, you will enjoy a camel trek and spend a magical night in a Berber camp under the stars. After breakfast, we will return to Marrakech.

Day 1: Marrakech – High Atlas – Telouet – Ait Ben Haddou – Ouarzazate

After meeting at the agreed location, we depart from Marrakech towards the southeast, crossing the High Atlas Mountains via the famous Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2,260 m), the highest road pass in Morocco.

Enjoy stunning landscapes and panoramic viewpoints, with stops for photos of traditional Berber villages.

We then take a scenic road to visit Telouet Kasbah, where you will have free time for lunch. In the afternoon, we continue through the Ounila Valley, known for its beautiful adobe villages, to reach Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site (since 1986) and filming location for movies such as Gladiator and Babel.

We finish the day in Ouarzazate with a photo stop at Atlas Studios. Overnight in a hotel or riad.

Day 2: Ouarzazate – Draa Valley – Merzouga Desert

After breakfast, we depart toward the Draa Valley, home to one of the longest rivers in Morocco. Along the way, we stop to admire kasbahs, palm groves, and traditional Berber villages.

We will stop for lunch in Nkob or Alnif. Afterward, we continue to the golden dunes of Merzouga.

Here, we switch to camels and begin a trek into the heart of the Sahara. Upon arrival at the desert camp, you will settle into traditional Berber tents. Enjoy dinner and an unforgettable night under a starry sky.

Day 3: Merzouga – Rissani – Todra Gorges – Dades Valley

Wake up early to watch the sunrise over the dunes—one of the most magical moments of the trip. After breakfast, ride your camel back to the hotel or riad.

We then visit Rissani and its traditional market, followed by Erfoud, famous for fossil workshops.

Next, we continue to the breathtaking Todra Gorges, where towering cliffs create a dramatic canyon popular with climbers. Enjoy free time for lunch and a short walk through the gorge.

In the afternoon, we head to the Dades Valley for an overnight stay in a hotel or riad.

Day 4: Dades Valley – Roses Valley – Skoura – Marrakech

After breakfast, enjoy panoramic views over the Dades Valley from a scenic viewpoint.

We continue along the “Road of a Thousand Kasbahs,” passing through the Roses Valley and the palm groves of Skoura.

Arrival in Ouarzazate includes a visit to Taourirt Kasbah, the former residence of the Glaoui family. Optional visits to film studios or the cinema museum are available.

In the afternoon, we return to Marrakech via the High Atlas Mountains and Tizi n’Tichka Pass.
