5 Days Desert Tour from Marrakech to Merzouga

This 5-day adventure starts from Marrakech and takes you across the breathtaking High Atlas Mountains via the famous Tizi n’Tichka Pass. You will explore the UNESCO World Heritage site of Ait Benhaddou, continue to Ouarzazate—known as the “Hollywood of Africa”—and journey through Agdz, the lush Draa Valley, and Zagora.

The tour continues along the historic Paris–Dakar rally route, passing Berber villages and the remote Ouzina Dunes, before reaching the stunning Erg Chebbi. Here, you will enjoy camel trekking and spend a magical night in a desert camp.

On the return journey, you will visit Rissani, Erfoud, the dramatic Todra Gorge, and the scenic Dades Valley before heading back to Marrakech via the High Atlas.

Day 1: Marrakech – Ait Benhaddou – Ouarzazate – Draa Valley – Zagora

After meeting at the agreed location, we begin our journey southeast through the High Atlas Mountains via Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2,260 m). Along the way, you will pass traditional Berber villages before reaching Ait Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site famous for films like Lawrence of Arabia and Prince of Persia.

We continue to Ouarzazate and then to Agdz, crossing the scenic Tizi n’Tinifift Pass. Enjoy panoramic views over the Draa Valley, known for its vast palm groves stretching over 150 km.

Day 2: Zagora – Paris-Dakar Track – Ouzina Dunes

Today’s journey takes you off the beaten path through diverse desert landscapes. Travel along sand tracks, past nomadic camps, dry lakes, and remote villages until reaching the peaceful Ouzina Desert.

Upon arrival, enjoy a traditional welcome tea and witness an unforgettable sunset from the dunes. After dinner, relax with live Berber music.
Overnight stay in a kasbah-style hotel.

Day 3: Ouzina – Khamlia – Erg Chebbi – Merzouga

After breakfast, continue toward Merzouga. Visit Ouzina village and then Khamlia, known for its Gnawa music and rich cultural heritage.

Arrive at Erg Chebbi dunes, where your camel trek begins. Ride across the dunes at sunset and reach your desert camp. Enjoy dinner, traditional music, and a night under the stars in a Berber tent.

Day 4: Erg Chebbi – Rissani – Todra Gorge – Dades Valley

Wake up early to witness the sunrise over the dunes. After returning to Merzouga by camel, head to Rissani, a traditional market town.

Continue to Tinghir and visit the spectacular Todra Gorge, with cliffs rising over 300 meters—popular with climbers worldwide. Then drive to Dades Valley.
Overnight stay in a riad.

Day 5: Dades Valley – Skoura – Ouarzazate – Marrakech

After breakfast, travel through the beautiful Roses Valley and Skoura palm grove, known for its hidden kasbahs. Continue to Ouarzazate, then cross the High Atlas Mountains again via Tizi n’Tichka Pass, returning to Marrakech.
End of the tour.
