Morocco Imperial Cities & Desert Tour – 9 Days

Day 1: Arrival in Fes

Arrive at Fes airport and transfer to your hotel or riad in the medina. You will have free time to rest or explore the nearby streets.

Day 2: Explore Fes

Spend a full day discovering the Fes medina with a local guide. Explore narrow streets, Andalusian neighborhoods, traditional workshops, mosques, and Koranic schools. Optionally, visit Fes-Jdid to see the royal palace, mellah (Jewish quarter), and the oldest mosque in Fes. Overnight at your hotel or riad.

Day 3: Fes – Ifrane – Azrou – Midelt – Erfoud – Merzouga

Travel through the Middle Atlas Mountains via Ifrane, also known as “Moroccan Switzerland.” Stop at the Azrou cedar forest to see Barbary apes. After lunch in Midelt, continue through the Ziz Valley, dotted with palm trees, and Erfoud. Arrive at Merzouga at the edge of the Erg Chebbi dunes. Dinner and overnight at a hotel or riad.

Day 4: Merzouga Desert Adventure

Visit Khamlia village to enjoy traditional Gnawa music. Explore Rissani market and desert oases. Take a 4×4 tour and then ride camels into the dunes to watch the sunset. Dinner and overnight in a Berber desert tent under the stars.

Day 5: Erg Chebbi – Todra Gorges – Dades Valley

Wake early to climb the dunes and watch the sunrise. Explore the stony desert, small oases, and nomadic villages. Visit Tineghir oasis and walk through the Todra Gorges. Dinner and overnight at a hotel in Dades Valley.

Day 6: Dades Valley – Roses Valley – Skoura – Ouarzazate

Drive through Dades Valley and visit the Skoura Kasbahs. Continue to Ouarzazate and explore the famous Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Overnight at a hotel near Ait Ben Haddou.

Day 7: Ouarzazate – High Atlas – Marrakech

Drive across the High Atlas Mountains via Tizi N’Tichka pass, reaching an altitude of 2,300 meters. Stop at Ounila Valley and Telouet Kasbah before arriving in Marrakech. Check into your hotel or riad.

Day 8: Explore Marrakech

Spend a full day discovering Marrakech with a local guide. Visit Jemaa el Fna square, Majorelle Gardens, Saadian Tombs, the medina, the mellah, and the modern Gueliz district. Overnight at your hotel or riad.

Day 9: Departure from Marrakech

Transfer to Marrakech airport for your flight home.
